About the construction project

 

The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) contractor, Conalvias

USA, starts construction to six-lane nine miles of I-75 from Sumter Boulevard

to River Road in October 2013. Completion of the $35.6 million project is

expected in fall 2016. Project features also include resurfacing the existing four lanes, constructing stormwater retention ponds and replacing high-mast lighting at the interchanges.

 

Early Construction Activities

 

• Placing construction signs and erosion control throughout the project area

 

• Installing barrels and barricades

 

• Adding temporary pavement to outside shoulders on I-75 to prepare for a traffic shift

 

• Resurfacing existing travel lanes of I-75

 

• Removing trees and vegetation from the median

 

• Placing drainage in the med
